Niskayuna Soccer Club is a non-profit organization that is a member of the Capital District Youth Soccer League (CDYSL) of the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA). The club is committed to providing its players and families a positive soccer experience at an affordable cost. The NSC emphasizes the technical and tactical development of each player, teamwork, and sportsmanship. While winning is nice, learning and enjoying soccer is the ultimate goal. The club typically sponsors approximately 15 competitive teams rostered with 200+ players over various age groups through the indoor and outdoor seasons.

What We Offer – A Positive Soccer Experience

  • Considerable practice time
  • Talented and dedicated coaches
  • Outstanding fields and facilities
  • Niskayuna Soccer Classic outdoor tournament
  • Community-based atmosphere supported by volunteers

Age Groups

The NSC sponsors competitive teams in the U8 (coed), U10, U12, U14, and older (Mohawk United) age groups for boys and girls.

Age groups are determined by birth year, regardless of the month/day born. To determine which age group your child will play, refer to the CDYSL Birth-Year Age Matrix (Note: the league runs from fall to spring so be sure to look at the correct season. Also, the league typically usually has age groups ending with even number. For example, if you determine your child to be U9, s/he will be playing in U10 for the league).

Travel / Wait-list

Travel players: Travel players practice and play in games and tournaments starting in November and continue on for all indoor leagues and the spring CDYSL outdoor season.

Wait-list: The NSC seeks to ensure the proper ratio of players to coaches for each age level. If space is not available on a roster then players may be placed on a wait-list. If space becomes available on the roster, families will be notified with preference given to those who were wait-listed first.

Calendar At-A-Glance

Competitive/travel soccer operates on a fall to spring calendar and is a higher level of commitment than a recreation soccer program. The following provides a general overview of the seasons and what is to be expected.

June: Sign-up opens for tryout/assessment days for the upcoming travel season. There is no fee for tryouts.

July: Season Registration opens. To improve the likelihood of not being wait-listed, it is recommended to register as soon as possible.

September – October: NSC players are often involved in school soccer or the town’s fall recreational soccer program. Some NSC teams may begin practicing and may elect to participate in CDYSL Fall League.

Mid-Sept. – Oct.: Fall Ball Session. 1 regular practice & 1 training academy session per week, 6 CDYSL games. Home games are held at the Niskayuna Soccer Park on Zenner Road, away games TBD.

November – April: Indoor practices (twice a week with the second practice being a skills-based academy training). Indoor practices are generally held at Afrim’s Sports locations but the possibility for other venues exists. Teams individually elect to participate in indoor leagues (e.g. Afrims) and occasionally tournaments. Indoor leagues usually involve 1-2 games on a weekend. Indoor games and tournaments available in 3 winter sessions are an additional cost, and are optional.

April – June: Outdoor practices, twice a week, along with eight-to-ten (8-10) games as part of the CDYSL. Home games are held at the Niskayuna Soccer Park on Zenner Road and away games are typically no farther than Saratoga or Bethlehem. Each team decides to attend local outdoor tournaments in addition to the Niskayuna Soccer Classic annual tournament held every June. Some older teams may participate in tournaments as far as Pennsylvania, the New England area, and Canada.
