Club Teams
NSC Club Teams are part of aĀ competitive program where players compete against teams in regional leagues, both CDYSL and EDP. These teams require regular travel for gamesāsometimes across a county or stateāand involve multiple weekly practices, weekend matches, and tournaments. Travel teams expect a higher level of commitment from players and families.
NSC forms all of its teams based upon a competitive selection process at annual tryouts held in June.Ā While roster adjustments may be made over the course of a season, rosters are generally locked by late summer.Ā In the event a player demonstrates the ability to compete at a higher level during the course of a season, the player may be afforded opportunities to āplay upā to a higher level team or age level, at the discretion of the Club and its coaches.Ā Ā

Calendar At-A-Glance
Competitive/travel soccer operates on a fall to spring calendar and is a higher level of commitment than a recreation soccer program. The following provides a general overview of the seasons and what is to be expected.
June:Ā Sign-up opens for tryout/assessment days for the upcoming travel season. There is no fee for tryouts.
July: Season Registration opens. To improve the likelihood of not being wait-listed, it is recommended to register as soon as possible.
September – October: NSC players are often involved in school soccer or the town’s fallĀ recreational soccer program. Some NSC teams may begin practicing and may elect to participate in Fall League play. 1 regular practice & 1 training academy session per week (for U8-U12 teams).
November ā April:Ā Indoor practices (twice a week with the second practice being a skills-based academy training). Teams individually elect to participate in indoor leagues (e.g. Afrims) and occasionally tournaments. Indoor leagues usually involve 1-2 games on a weekend.
April ā June:Ā Outdoor practices, twice a week,Ā along with eight-to-ten (8-10) games as part of the CDYSL. Home games are held at theĀ Niskayuna Soccer ParkĀ on Zenner Road and away games are typically no farther than Saratoga or Bethlehem. Each team decides to attend local outdoor tournaments in addition to the Niskayuna Soccer Classic annual tournament held every June. Some older teams may participate in tournaments as far as Pennsylvania, the New England area, and Canada.
